City Closer to Lifting Beekeeping Ban

Picture 1.png
Bees: good for rooftops.
Someone at the Board of Health must have gotten a taste of honey: one year after council man David Yassky introduced a bill legalizing beekeeping in the city, the Board has proposed lifting the ban.

City Room reports that in response to lobbying efforts from Just Food and the growing popularity of DIY beekeeping (thanks, Roberta's!), the health department is reconsidering its earlier position, which prohibits beekeeping because bees, like, can sting people. The board plans to vote on the measure in March; until then, the public can submit comments on the matter to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
