Holiday Gifts for Food-Lovers: Beer Brewing Kits, Crazy Candy Bars at Brooklyn Flea in Manhattan

Brooklyn Flea's temporary holiday market, Gifted, runs through December 24th at 20 East 4th Street. Though you might miss the jalapeno-stuffed pupusas and other made-to-order snacks from the "regular" Brooklyn Flea, there are a few worthy food-related gifts at the Manhattan location.

Jen King and Liz Gutman, of Bed-Stuy-based confectioner Liddabit, are peddling their over-the-top candy bars and "slurtles" (drunk turtles, made with beer caramel and pretzels). The candy bars mimic drugstore familiars, but are made with infinitely better ingredients: high-quality candy that doesn't take itself too seriously. Liddabit offers a reverse-engineered Snickers bar, the Snacker, and a Pecan bar, which combines layers pie crust, pecan dulce de leche, and bourbon ganache. Liddabit's web sales are sold-out, so if you want to get your hands on a Snacker for a stocking, you'll need to get it at Gifted.
