Two Bankruptcy Filings and a Lawsuit Add Up to a World of Trouble for Sasha Muniak

She might want to pour one for Sasha, too.

All is far from well for Sasha Muniak: The restaurateur, whose Centro Vinoteca filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, is now filing a Chapter 11 for one of his four Mangia eateries, which to office workers are synonymous with panini and catered corporate meetings. Crain's is reporting that Muniak filed for the 57th Street location of Mangia, for which he owes creditors less than $10 million in debt. But that's only the tip of the ice pick.

PX This has gotten its hot little hands on a lawsuit filed in the state Supreme Court by three female former employees of Centro against Anne Burrell, Muniak, and George Elkins, alleging that they were subject to "discrimination" and "retaliation" in violation of the Human Rights Law.

The plaintiffs accuse Burrell of subjecting them to terms like "slutty," "saggy," "ho," "whore," and "stupid dumb whore... idiot," made remarks about their "cleavage," and asked them such questions as "have you fucked that [co-worker] yet?" The plaintiffs claim they were fired in retaliation for their complaints about Burrell, which were not addressed adequately by Muniak and Elkins. Somehow, we're guessing that this isn't the sort of secret of a restaurant chef that the Food Network was looking for.
