Fondue: Hands-On Cooking & Wine Pairing

Is there anything more satisfying than a pot of hot cheese on a cold day? Join culinary instructor Emily Peterson for an evening celebrating the most communal of meals: fondue. The class starts with a cheese fondue, then continues with a meat fondue -- complete with all the sauces -- and finishes up with a decadent chocolate fondue featuring a variety of fruits, cookies, and marshmallows for dunking. Wine pairings will be offered for each course.

Open for lunch and dinner on Christmas Eve, the biergarten will be serving up such Bavarian specialties as Eisbein (pork shank), Sauerbraten (beef roast), Stollen (traditional Christmas cake), and Apple Strudel. The $38 three-course prix-fixe comes with a half-liter of beer or a glass of mulled Gluhwein. The restaurant will not be open Christmas Day.

Chef-owner Philip Guardione, a native of Sicily, will offer diners a $75 six-course prix-fixe Christmas Eve dinner. The contemporary take on a traditional Sicilian Christmas feast will include scallops with black truffles, sole with citrus, and rabbit with fresh herbs, as well as pistachio semifreddo with chocolate sauce for dessert.
