French It Up This Weekend: Champagne and Cassoulet to Warm and Uplift You

Get chaud with cassoulet.
Savoy will host its second Annual Cassoulet Feast this Saturday. Chefs from six different restaurants -- Ryan Tate and Peter Hoffman of Savoy, Marc Meyer of Cookshop, Galen Zamarra of Mas (Farmhouse), Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, Cyril Renaud of Bar Breton, and Marco Canora of Hearth, along with farmer Erin Fairbanks -- will offer up their versions of the soul-warming French dish for your approval (at $65 per ticket). A portion of the proceeds will go to Chef's Collaborative, a group promoting sustainable foods among restaurant chefs.

Meanwhile, Saturday evening will be all about the bubbly at Apotheke. There's more to Champagne than Moet and Cristal, and the Independent Champagne and Sparkling Wine Invitational hopes to prove it to you with Haute and Bubbly, an evening of Champagne cocktails at the Chinatown absinthe den (absinthe... Francais, aussi!). Owner Albert Trummer will create four different concoctions, to be paired with a selection of canapes for $65 per person.

If these don't get you through the rest of January, nothing will.
