In light of Mayor Bloomberg's plan to cut our salt intake, just how much salt is in New York foods? Delicatessen's bagel and smoked salmon plate has 105 percent of the recommended daily intake, Char No. 4's lamb pastrami sandwich has 92 percent, but Sigmund Pretzel Shop's pretzels only have 9.

The FDA has changed its mind about potential health risks associated with bisphenol-A or BPA in plastics. Now, it's expressing "some concern about the potential effects of BPA on the brain, behavior, and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children."

Your favorite fast-food chain is probably cooking your French fries in corn oil, which is higher in saturated fats than other vegetable oils, according to a recent study. Close to 70 percent of fast-food chains studied, like McDonald's and Wendy's, used corn oil.

A new study shows that the longer you wait to start your baby on solids, the less likely it will grow up to be fat. The World Health Organization recommends that babies be breastfed until six months, but many parents start their kids on solid foods sooner.

Glen W. Bell Jr., founder of Taco Bell, has passed away at the age of 86. Bell introduced tacos to the menu at his Bell's Drive-In hamburger stands in the '50s. Taco Bell has since grown into the largest Mexican fast-food chain worldwide with 5,600 U.S. locations.
