Kinski is Once Again Open for Business
After opening in November, Kinski closed earlier this month for a renovation. Yesterday, the Czech-Austrian coffee, sandwich, and knodel shop re-opened on Rivington Street, with more doughy Austrian delights in tow.
Kinski, resurrected.
In addition to the knodel -- traditional dumplings that come in sweet and savory varieties - there's also schupfnudeln, which, as the friendly guy working behind the counter explained, are like Austrian gnocchi (elsewhere on the Internet, they're described as German potato noodles). Kinski serves them in fried and sweet variations. The revamped menu also features an all-day breakfast, Viennese coffee drinks, open-faced sandwiches, and a smattering of baked goods. While we can't yet attest to the quality of any of the dishes, we can attest to the pleasures of saying 'schupfnudeln' over and over again.
