New York restaurants are beginning to raise money to aid relief efforts in Haiti, but at least one has been directly impacted by the earthquake: one of the owners of Kombit, a Haitian restaurant in Prospect Heights, is missing after traveling to Haiti last week to attend to some family matters.

Diner's Journal reports that Denise Felix, one of the three sisters who owns Kombit, had gone to Haiti to join her mother, who was there to help an uncle who had been shot and robbed last year. Felix's family hasn't heard from her since the earthquake, although they've heard that the mother is alive.

The family is appealing to the community for support, which can be shown most directly by going to the restaurant and ordering a meal.
