The The Joy of Cheese: Classic Blues and Beers To Match
What better way to cure those winter blues than with blue cheese? The first Joy of Cheese event of the year will focus on blues, as it has for the past four years. Taste five classic blues and two other cheese, each paired with a craft beer for $20 per person. If you can't make this event, there'll be more stinky, moldy fromage to taste on the following two Tuesdays. Because no one should be eating sissy cheese in this weather.
The Economist & Vermilion: Unconventional. Indian Women. Leading Culinary.
Now's your chance to meet Padma Lakshmi and three other leading Indian women from the culinary world. The Top Chef host joins Vermilion restaurateur Rohini Dey, Master Sommelier Alpana Singh, and Vermilion executive chef Maneet Chauhan for this Economist event. The five-course dinner and panel discussion costs $75 per person, and will be moderated by Economist editor Vijay Vaitheeswaran.
Portraits from the Bar Exhibition
Jill DeGroff, whose book Lush Life: Portraits From the Bar, features whimsical drawings of bartenders and other cocktailians, is having her first solo exhibition in just the kind of place that inspires her: a bar! The self-proclaimed "saloon artist" will show dozens of her portraits, as a live band plays and the artist herself doles out autographs and caricatures.
