Marcus Samuelsson's New Restaurant Is Indeed Called the Red Rooster
Earlier today, we noticed that the Top Chef Masters Season 2 line-up listed competitor Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant as the Red Rooster, rather than Aquavit, and wondered if this was the name of the new project he's

reportedly been working on in Harlem.
As it turns out, it is. A representative for the restaurant confirms that the new place is called the Red Rooster, and says it's scheduled to open "at some point" this year. Few details are currently available, but we're told that the food will be "along the lines of the food in his New American Table cookbook -- it will represent the diverse fabric of American cuisine."
Samuelsson, who's lived in Harlem for six years and is still a partner at Aquavit, hasn't yet found a location for the restaurant. As for the name, it's a homage to a speakeasy that had its heyday sometime in the earlier part of the 1900s, so perhaps the (possibly) new American cuisine will be paired with some old American cocktails.
