These sugar ornaments are made in Lancut, a city in the southeast of Poland.

Speaking of bunnies, Easter is a month away and area Polish grocery shops are stocking up on holiday specialties and candy, particularly sugar ornaments like this chick and rooster. Traditionally, the Polish Easter table is presided over by a sugar lamb -- Jubliat Provisions (608 5th Avenue, Brooklyn) has them in varying degrees of elaborateness.

Down the street, Eagle Provisions (628 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn) has chocolates for the Easter basket, or just for binging on. The Miesko Trufles are filled with rum-raisin chocolate ganache, and the Klejnoty bag contains chocolates flavored with coffee and cream, hazelnuts, advocat (like eggnog), or rum. The last two are extremely boozy, so much so that when you open the bag, the aroma of alcohol comes wafting out. That'll get you through a long mass.

Meanwhile, Eagle also has wooden versions of the hand-painted Easter eggs that are an art form in Poland.
