The ingredients: Rye, Brandy, Benedictine, Peychaud's, and Angostura bitters, stirred and served in a cocktail glass.
The buzz: Pronounced Voo-ca-ray in these here United States, the Vieux Carré is named for the "old square" of New Orleans, which is how the French referred to the Quarter. At old-timey Rye, it fills the drinker with the heat and bittersweetness of the antebellum South.
