Where Am I Eating? Yemen Cafe

Fassolia
Once again, you guys have proved far too well-informed to be fooled by the likes of us! The mystery dish we showed you yesterday is fassolia, a delicious dish of white beans cooked with tomatoes, onions, and in this case, egg. We ate it at the venerable Yemen Cafe at 176 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

The first person to guess both the restaurant and the dish was Marthagrace--congratulations, and please email me so I can let you know which books you have to choose from.

Check back here next week for another Where Am I Eating? contest. In the meantime, click through to see a few more pictures from Yemen Cafe.

Yemen Cafe's foul--a smoky stew of fava beans, tomatoes, peppers, and onions in a bubbling, brick-red broth.

Salta is one of Yemen's most popular dishes. The broth is thickened with mashed vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and okra, flavored with the bitter green fenugreek, and enriched with bits of lamb.
