Far from the madding crowd ...
The New York Marble Cemetery is one of the city's more inaccessible wonders, an East Village oasis that's closed to the public for all but a few weekends a year. This Saturday, the 22nd, the gates will be open for the City of Merchants, a fundraiser for the New Amsterdam Market.

The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m, and will feature vittles from such purveyors as Green Brown Orange, Kombucha Brooklyn, Mother-In-Law Kimchee, Jimmy's No. 43, and Princeton, New Jersey's the Bent Spoon. General admission for non-members is $35; tickets can be found here.
