Countdown to New Holland Herring at Russ and Daughters

The time for New Catch Holland herring--equal to the finest sushi--is almost upon us. 
Last year's catch
The small, silvery fishes from the cold waters of the North Sea are at their peak once a year, starting in early June and lasting for approximately four weeks. In Holland, the arrival of the first barrel of herring is a national holiday, and the queen gets the ritual first taste.
Russ and Daughters always pulls out all the stops for the herring's arrival. Today, a shop employee said that they expect to have this year's catch around June 8th. The appetizing mecca will soon announce a one-night event to celebrate the fish.
