Drink a Sergio Leone at Savoy
The drink: Sergio Leone
Giddy up.
The bar: Savoy, 70 Prince Street
The price: $12
The ingredients: Bergamot-infused gin, reposado tequila, Cynar, and sweet vermouth, shaken and served in a cocktail glass with a thinly sliced lime wheel to garnish.
The buzz: Yes, that's right. Cynar. It's a liqueur made with frickin' artichokes. And don't you forget it. According to bartender Michael Cecconi, the way to make this riff on a Negroni is quite simple: "Take all the great things that Italy is known for: heirloom citrus, Cynar, and sweet vermouth. Mix them together with the best of England and Mexico, and if that doesn't say 'spaghetti western,' I don't know what does." What a cowboy. (Extra points for the killer name.)
