Nona Brooklyn Is Like a News Aggregator for the Brooklyn Artisanal Food Scene

Given the number of local/artisanal/seasonal Brooklyn businesses that have sprouted over the past few years (to say nothing of the past few months), it was only a matter of time before someone noticed that a) there were a lot of them and b) barring Twitter, attempting to keep up with their product and sales updates is a cumbersome and time-consuming task for the average locavore. And so we now have Nona Brooklyn, a brand new website that likens itself to "the sidewalk chalkboards that restaurants, shops and bars use to promote daily specials, but better!"

The website is basically like a news aggregator, hyper-specific version of Tasting Table, and Twitter feed, all smooshed into one. It's currently in soft-launch mode, and includes restaurants and businesses like Saul, Sweet Melissa, Caputo's, Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies, Crop to Cup, Liddabit Sweets, SCRATCHbread, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. Shockingly enough, chains aren't represented. Gastropubs make up the smallest category (there are two, Henry Public and Building on Bond), and shops, the largest with 15. And somewhat unsurprisingly, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens are the most heavily represented neighborhoods, suggesting that what Smith Street makes, the world's strenuously curated general stores take.
