Here's a Cool Video Portrait of Greenpoint's Lomzynianka

Lomzynianka Final from elizabeth leitzell on Vimeo.

Food Curated's Liza de Guia isn't the local food scene's only documentarian: our intrepid freelancer Keith Wagstaff and his friend Elizabeth Leitzell have collaborated on a nifty photo and video essay about Lomzynianka, a Polish restaurant in Greenpoint beloved for its pierogies, blintzes, and borscht. Janina Grzelcza, the restaurant's chef and owner, is seen at work in the kitchen and talks about the hard life she led in Poland (Grzelcza is from the town of Lomza, and the restaurant's name means "girl from Lomza") as Alicia Keys's "Empire State of Mind" plays in the background. Worth checking out.
