The newly opened Red Hook Mercado was in full swing this weekend, operating out of an old vacant lot turned lush and green by Liberty Sunset Garden Center's landscaping.

There were three food vendors there on Sunday: Country Boys, selling huaraches, quesadillas, tacos and sopes; Soler Pupusas, offering pupusas of all sorts; and Robicelli's, a husband-and-wife baking team peddling cupcakes and brownies. Those first two are veterans of the Red Hook ballfields, held a bare half mile away from the new market.
