Last year, the third annual NYC Food Film Festival gave us a documentary about mushrooms paired with a 10-course mushroom-inspired tasting menu created by Brad Farmerie. This year, both the festival and Farmerie return -- the former on June 23, and the latter on June 24, when he'll cook up Southeast Asian street market food to accompany a quartet of shorts about Southeast Asian food. The event is one of many that will take place over the course of the five-day festival, which will screen 29 orally fixated films.

The lineup includes Florent: Queen of the Meat Market, a documentary about the much beloved meatpacking district restaurateur Florent Morellet; Smoke & Ears, a paean to pig's ear sandwiches by the award-winning filmmaker Joe York; Widow's Hole Oysters, Liza de Guia's portrait of Long Island oysterman Mike Osinski, who supplies the Mermaid Inn and others with bivalves; and It's Grits!, Stan Woodward's 30-year-old documentary about, well, grits.

The festival runs June 23-27, and tickets can be found here.
