De-liver me.
The question of whether or not foie gras is torture earned our own Sarah DiGregorio a James Beard Award nomination. But her writing chops would probably be lost on the folks from the Animal Protection & Rescue League. The organization and several other animal rights groups have plans to protest outside Thomas Keller's restaurants here and in California this Saturday, May 8, publicly calling him out for his use of foie gras, which they say is made by cruelly force-feeding ducks.

The groups claim they will display graphic images from Keller's supplier, Hudson Valley Foie Gras, although DiGregorio's report portrayed the facility as quite humane, and revealed that many of the disturbing images circulated depicting the cruel treatment of ducks raised for foie gras actually come from factory farms in France. In any case, join the protest if you like at Per Se at noon this Saturday. Your fellow anti-fatty liver activists will be picketing Bouchon in Beverly Hills at 7:30 p.m. local time and French Laundry in Napa at 7 p.m.
