Callinectes sapidus, more commonly known as "delicious."
Back Forty knows how to throw a good party, and its annual summer Crab Boils certainly rank among the city's more convivial crustacean-oriented festivities. This year, instead of taking reservations by phone, the East Village restaurant will be making them available through Brown Paper Tickets. Reservations go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. As in years past, $42 will get you a big old mess of blue crabs, steamed in Old Bay and beer and served with greens, cornbread, and cobbler for dessert. The boils will take place every Tuesday from June 15 through August 31, and culminate with a four-day crab fest that will go out in a blaze of broken shells and hedonistic glory on September 3.
