It's what's for dinner. And lunch. And breakfast.
At this point, the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party hardly needs any more press, but if you're not one of the 125,000 people expected to attend the two-day event, which kicks off on Saturday, then know that the lines are long but the opportunities to consume pork products are almost limitless. To get some idea of what's involved, here are some photos from last year's party.

If you aren't partial to crushing crowds and endless waits, then consider going farther south to the Hester Street Fair: This weekend's roster of food vendors will include Jamón Jamón!, a start-up from a couple of guys who were inspired by a Mark Bittman article (and, apparently, the 1992 Penelope Cruz movie) to sell cured Spanish ham to New Yorkers. They'll be serving it on three kinds of sandwiches featuring goat cheese spread, sun-dried tomato garlic spread, and tomato olive oil spread, respectively.

Also, Luke's Lobster will serve a new lobster bisque, and both the Arancini Bros. and Macaron Parlour will be selling new flavors of their respective risotto balls and macarons.

All of which is to say that this is not the weekend to begin a diet.
