Former Allen & Delancey Will Become Mary Queen of Scots
The fate of the former Allen & Delancey space has finally been decided: It will become home to Mary Queen of Scots, the second restaurant from the team behind the Scottish gastropub Highlands. ![]()
Delancey Street will get the royal treatment.
Eater reports that the Highlands team had their liquor license approved at last night's Community Board 3 meeting, and plan to start gut-renovating the space on July 1. Highlands' Brian McGrory described the restaurant as more of a brasserie than a gastropub, and said that the menu from Highlands chef Will Hickox and a recent El Bulli alum will showcase "the best of Scottish produce." Meaning that there's a possibility that haggis will soon be consumed on Delancey Street for the first time in recorded history.
