Hello, Jell-O
Let it be said that there is no food too small or too quotidian to get its day in the amateur cook-off sun. Case in point: the GSS Jell-O competition, which on June 26 will celebrate its second year of existence.

The competition, which will take place at the Gowanus Studio Space, challenges participants "to take Jell-O out of the cafeteria and break the mold, as it were." All of the designs must feature Jell-O prominently, and, tellingly, "be safe to eat."

Last year's winning entries included Jell-O jewelry, Jell-O caviar, and Jell-O-encased shish kebabs, so the bar has already been set pretty high. This year's competition will be hosted by Food Party's Thu Tran, so the possibilities for amiable anarchy are even greater than they would normally be where wobbly foodstuffs are concerned. All aspiring competitors are encouraged to enter here; applications must be received by June 11.
