While there are plenty of peanut butter pies floating around town, First Prize Pies' Allison Kave has distinguished hers by endowing it with a crackly chocolate shell and plenty of pretzels that are both ground into the graham cracker crust and sprinkled in chunks across the pie's surface.
The creamy peanut butter filling tastes like peanuts instead of sugar, and is just sweet enough to amplify the saltiness of the pretzels. The thin puddle of hardened chocolate cracks and splinters in a satisfying way when you bite into it, and the delicate graham cracker crust -- really more crumble than crust -- echoes the crunch of the pretzels. Texturally and flavor-wise, the pie's ingredients work in great harmony, and its small size all but guarantees there will be a return for seconds, or thirds.
