A new Modern Dominican restaurant is getting ready to open near Citi Field in Corona, Queens, in the coming weeks. Gabbana, originally slated to open this week, is the brainchild of Ricardo Cardona, who keeps busy helming the kitchens of Sofrito, Lua, MamaJuana Café, and Hudson River Café, and is also employed as the New York Yankees' chef. Juan Villar, the beverage director, has put together a 50-strong list of rums, as well as a cocktail menu of signature drinks. A spokesperson said the place would have "a kind of Meatpacking District vibe that is not usually found in Queens." Somehow, that doesn't seem like a stretch.
