After conducting an epic search for the best cupcake in the city, Serious Eats has awarded the honor to Baked in Red Hook for its "consistently moist cake, good cake-to-frosting ratio, and interesting flavors that highlighted the title ingredient." Tellingly, behemoths like Crumbs and Magnolia didn't even make it into the top 12, and neither did smaller but much-fetishized shops like Butter Lane and Babycakes. Merely looking at the slideshow photos is enough to induce a sugar coma; file this under "Tough Job, but Somebody Had to Do It."
