What to Drink at PDT: A Kansai Kick
Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.
The drink: Kansai Kick
Chantal Martineau Kansai Kick.
The bar: PDT, 113 St. Marks Place
The price: $14
The ingredients: 12-year-old Yamazaki Japanese whiskey, Sercial madeira, fresh lime juice, and orgeat, shaken and served up in a cocktail glass.
The buzz ...
If you thought the sorry saketini was as good as an East-meets-West cocktail can get, boy, were you ever sorely mistaken. The Kansai Kick is the culmination of a love affair between the handsome Japanese gigolo that is Yamazaki whiskey and his mature yet still wild-at-heart Portuguese beauty, Sercial madeira. And if the lime juice and orgeat call to mind the tiki party you had last night, you got it right: The couple's liquid love child was conceived on a deserted beach in Tahiti, of course.
