Where Am I Eating? Saint's Alp Teahouse

Fried daikon cake fritters.
Alas, the dish I picked this week was just too indistinct-looking for a good game of Where Am I Eating? (Someone often guesses correctly within the first hour, so I was trying to be tricky.)

Those pepper-flecked nubs of fried stuff are actually daikon radish cake fritters from Saint's Alp Teahouse (39 Third Avenue), the Taiwanese/Hong Kong-ese bubble tea and snack specialist in the East Village. They're pretty great -- crisp and hot, with a chewy, starchy, slightly pungent interior. The plate costs just $3.

Check back here next week for another edition of Where Am I Eating?
