Mayor Bloomberg was on The Daily Show last night, mainly to talk about Park51, the Muslim community center close to ground zero, but he also took on a subject near to our hearts: the eight-cent tax on sliced bagels or bagels eaten in the store that's being newly enforced by cash-strapped Albany. (Apparently, the clause already existed but was little-known.)

"Anti-Semitism!" cries (a joking) Jon Stewart. "They can't even get a bagel upstate," says (a not joking) Bloomberg. The mayor pledges to fight the tax for the remainder of his term, and then they get on to the serious stuff, and Bloomberg speaks sensibly about why he supports the Park51 project. (Hint: the Constitution.)
