Welcome to 100 Dishes to Eat Now, Fork in the Road's handy list of some of our favorite dishes -- old standbys and new finds alike -- compiled daily.
Today's pick: Pickle dog at Bark Hot Dogs.
Bark Hot Dogs
474 Bergen Street
Park Slope, Brooklyn
718-789-1939
The pickle dog begins with a proprietary Hartmann's frank from upstate New York, which is boiled, basted with butter and lard, and then topped it with three pickloid substances: brine-pickle spears, sliced dill pickles, and a sweet pickle relish. Squiggles of mustard and mayo are then squirted on. If that's not enough food for you, side it with gravy fries or onion rings, and wash it down with one of the off-price Sixpoint beers. Or pick a nonalcoholic Foxon White Birch Beer, or -- Brooklyn favorite -- a Gassosa lemon soda made by Manhattan Special of Williamsburg.
Glowing late into the night -- Bark for your wieners.![]()
