For Some, Fulton Grand Bar Already Feels Like Home

Clinton Hill has been heating up lately with authentic Nigerian, a proper patisserie, and now a new neighborhood bar, to boot. Fulton Grand Bar opened at the beginning of the month and already feels like it's been around for years.

Owned by mostly the same team behind Washington Commons and 4th Avenue Pub, the bar, with its bare brick walls and salvaged wood tables, looks rustic and comfortable, cool but not too much so. A rotating array of beers, which this week includes Stoudt's Pilsner, Smuttynose Robust Porter, and Fuller's London Pride, is complemented by a decent selection of whiskeys sitting on the modest back bar. On a recent night, already-regulars sat at the bar, on their third or fourth visit in weeks, while other locals poked their heads into the darkened, narrow wedge of a bar looking for a beer and, maybe, a new place to call their own.

"I used to live right next to Washington Commons, so I'm really glad this opened [near my new apartment]," said one patron. He was also happy to see the Commons' same $2-off-everything deal at happy hour, which runs for a generous five hours, from 3 to 8 p.m.
