Behold, souvlaki.
Indentured office workers now have another reason to take to the streets: Over the weekend, the new Souvlaki Truck began peddling grilled meats and pita throughout Manhattan.

The truck's owner told Midtown Lunch that he's planning a slow launch this week and that he plans to serve the denizens of Soho, the East Village, the Lower East Side, and, of course, Midtown. According to its website, the Souvlaki Truck is the product of a "conversation amongst friends over the World Cup match between Greece and Argentina"; after realizing that "a traditional souvlaki is nearly impossible to find" in the city, they realized there was a niche to fill.

Although its website claims that the truck will convey "the atmosphere of the Greek islands" to its customers, there is no lamb on its menu. Which doesn't seem particularly Greek, but does seem like something of an oversight.
