What to Drink at Raines Law Room: French Fix

Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.

Get French Fix-ed.
The drink: French Fix

The bar: Raines Law Room, 48 West 17th Street

The price: $13

The ingredients: Muddled fresh pineapple, fresh lemon juice, Yellow Chartreuse, Hennessy VS, shaken briefly with ice and served over cracked ice, with mint sprig and fresh fruit garnish.

The buzz: The mint sprig fills the nose -- rather literally as well as proverbially -- for an intoxicating snort of freshness before you take your first sip. Once you can maneuver your way around it, the refreshing elixir is a perfect balance of fruit, tart, and herb, ice-cold and cloudy. There isn't a trace of bite from the cognac, which in addition to giving the drink structure provides it with its moniker. We recommend sipping it at the little island bar at the back of the room, where the staff so thoughtfully put out summer cherries for your snacking pleasure, or perhaps even in the little-known backyard. Try not to down this one in two sips. (No really, test your resolve. Consider yourself dared.)
