The Cancer Project is hosting this free demonstration and tasting, featuring plant-based dishes that could help prevent cancer and other chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The menu includes cucumber-mango-and-spinach salad, roasted red pepper hummus with pita chips, lentil artichoke stew with brown rice, and -- hey now -- chocolate mousse. (The class is free, but donations of $15-$20 are encouraged.)
77th Anniversary Special & Pizza Eating Contest

Celebrate the iconic pizzeria's 77th anniversary with prices from its founding year of 1933. Whole pies will be available for 60 cents, 12-ounce steaks for 90 cents, and soft drinks for 10 cents. In the afternoon, members of the police and fire departments will go head-to-head in a good old-fashioned pizza-eating contest. (Spoiler: Everybody wins.)
Dinner With Mad Men: Hands-On Cooking & Cocktails

You watch it, dress for it, and drink to it. Now, learn to cook your favorite show. For $125, chef Carl Raymond will take you through some of the food trends of the late '50s and early '60s, and show you how to whip up classics like deviled eggs, shrimp cocktail, and beef Stroganoff. And, yes, the cocktails will be a-flowing.
