The folks at Macao Trading Co. are truly outdoing themselves tonight with this free evening of booze and burlesque. The ever-so-sultry Calamity Chang hosts the event, which promises to be filled with sexy dancers, skimpy costumes, explicit performances, and free cocktails (the latter just until 11 p.m.). Um, did we mention it's free?

Black & Cream Temporary Taqueria
Patio at the East River Bar
Monday, August 23, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
For one night only under the Williamsburg Bridge, San Francisco artist Mark Andrew Gravel will host this pop-up taqueria. An admission price of $8 buys you local black-bean tacos made with fresh cheese, locally pickled produce, rooftop greens from Brooklyn Grange, as well as chocolate from Mast Brothers, Blue Bottle iced coffee soda, and tunes being spun by Alex Pasternak.

The Story of Sushi: Secrets of the Cuisine From Japan to New York
Museum of the City of New York
Tuesday, August 24, 6:30 p.m.
Trevor Corson -- whom you may recognize as a judge on Iron Chef America, or perhaps as the author of The Story of Sushi: An Unlikely Saga of Raw Fish & Rice, or maybe even as the sushi concierge at Jewel Bako -- will host this conversation about the history of sushi, which arrived in New York some 150 years ago. The cost is $6 for museum members and $12 for non-members.
