Welcome to 100 Dishes to Eat Now, Fork in the Road's handy list of some of our favorite dishes -- old standbys and new finds alike -- compiled daily.

Today's pick: Pastrami sandwich ($9.50) at This Little Piggy.

Folks tout the roast beef productions at this sliver of a sandwich shop in the East Village -- the Brooklyn-style roast beef hero with mozzarella and brown gravy, and the facsimile Philly cheesesteak with Whiz -- but my favorite lately has been the pastrami on a roll.

The meat is way-smoky and gloriously fatty and a lovely shade of deep red. Untraditionally, coleslaw is put in the sandwich, along with the expected grainy mustard. The sandwich is memorably good, and, unlike Katz's, small enough that you can eat the whole thing yourself.

Gradually and inexplicably over the last few months, This Little Piggy has become plastered with greenbacks.
