Smoked Eels and Trout, Wild Foods, and Catskills Products at New Amsterdam Market This Weekend

Trust us, this looks way more appetizing than an actual eel.
Back in May, the New Amsterdam Market commandeered the Marble Cemetery for a fundraiser showcasing a variety of wild botanicals from Vermont. On Sunday, the Vermont food gatherers will return to the market, and they'll have plenty of wild company: Robert LaValva, New Amsterdam's founder, tells us there will also be vendors selling smoked wild Delaware River eels and Beaverkill smoked trout, as well as seaweed from the waters lapping the Maine coastline, courtesy of She Sells Seaweed.

In addition, there will be an emphasis on Catskills products: Painted Goat and Cooperstown Cheese Company will offer hard cider-washed-rind Gouda and raw-milk Tilsit, respectively, while Main Street Farm, a shop in Livingston Manor, will be selling grass-finished beef from Slope Farms, which normally retails only at the Park Slope Food Co-op. They'll also be selling the aforementioned smoked eel and trout, as well as tea from Tay Tea.

Plenty of the market's usual suspects will also be there, selling everything from cheese to porchetta sandwiches to artisanal candy bars. Market hours run, as usual, from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.
