Open & Closed: Say Hello to the Gentleman Farmer, Goodbye to Chiyoda Sushi

Restaurants and bars, they come and they go. Here are a few making their debuts and bowing out this week.

Chiyoda Sushi in Midtown has shuttered, and it will be replaced by Mai Cuisine, which serves much of the same menu as its predecessor.

Ruben's Empanadas in the East Village is closed -- the shutters are down and the number has been disconnected -- but the Soho location is still open.

The East Village is getting more pizza: Plum Pizzeria and Bar has opened in the space formerly occupied by Café Brama.

The Gentleman Farmer has opened on the Lower East Side, serving bistro fare and seasonal menu options. The narrow space has only six or seven tables.

The New York outpost of Vegas super-club Lavo is soft-opening. The 6,000-square-foot space will feature disco balls, one-pound meatballs, and tri-tiered seafood platters.

Atlantic Grill at Lincoln Center is opening today, with Christopher Lim, formerly of BLT Steak, at the helm. [NY Times]
