Ruth Reichl to Join the Staff at Random House
Random House Publishing Group announced today that former Gourmet Editor-in-Chief will be joining the staff, both as a contract author and as an Editor-at-Large. In the former capacity, she has three books on the drawing board: a memoir of her days at Gourmet, as yet untitled; a book called The Tao of Ruth Reichl, inspired by Anthony Bourdain; and her first novel, Delicious![]()
Since the demise of Gourmet, Reichl had been traveling to promote Gourmet cookbooks, and lodged in the MacDowell Colony, a literary colony in New Hampshire, where she was presumably working on her novel. She has become notorious over the last few months for her food-related twittering -- much of it from her upstate home in Columbia County -- in which she often described what she had just eaten in glowing terms.
As Editor-at-Large, she will be developing food writers, probably including authors she had worked with during her nearly 10 years at Gourmet. The full text of the Random House press release follows.
