Sunday will not only bring wild foods to Manhattan, but also one of the fruit world's most mainstream members to the Lower East Side. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the neighborhood will celebrate the third-annual New York City Apple Day. The festivities will take place on Orchard Street between Broome and Grand streets, and feature numerous varieties of apples that hearken back to the orchard that existed in the neighborhood in the 1700s and was owned, incidentally, by a farmer named Delancey. Many local restaurants will be taking part in the event: Look out for food from Café Katja, BabyCakes, An Choi, and Bunny Chow, among others.
