Welcome to 100 Dishes to Eat Now, Fork in the Road's handy list of some of our favorite dishes -- old standbys and new finds alike -- compiled daily.

Today's pick: Farmer special ($8.50) at Yee Kee H.K. Style (1232 Avenue U, Homecrest, Brooklyn, 718-336-2338)

The "H.K." stands for Hong Kong in the name of this restaurant on Homecrest's bustling Avenue U, which served Cantonese food as interpreted by Hong Kong chefs plus extra Malaysian, Japanese, and Sichuan dishes -- just because they can.

The Farmer Special is something of a mystery, an all-vegetarian haystack of various crunchy substances such as a peasant in China might assemble, but is it intended as an truthful representation of a phase in Chinese history, or as an ironic commentary?

Either way, this well-oiled assenblage of taro, garlic chives, mushrooms, Chinese celery, and fried lo mein is beyond scrumptious, and must be accounted one of the borough's best vegetarian dishes.
