Well, at newcomer Meme the $9 starter is such a lavish production, you might want to use it as an entree. Multiple baby artichokes are expertly fried, plunked down on a bed of arugula, and planked with Spanish aged manchego cheese. A pair of dipping sauces -- one tomatoey, the other something like green goddess dressing -- complete the picture.
Meme is a branch of a restaurant on Spruce Street in Philadelphia, and the menu explores the Mediterranean, with a special emphasis on Moroccan-Jewish food, the cuisine of the owner's grandmother.
