Sunday marks the end of the Hester Street Fair -- at least until next April -- and to mark the occasion its organizers will be taking part in the Seward Park Halloween carnival, which kicks off at 2 p.m. with a parade. Admission to the carnival is $9, but the fair is free -- and will be "bringing in more food than normal" from both regular vendors and some Grub Street food-fest participants.

Meanwhile, down near the South Street Seaport, the New Amsterdam Market will be observing Halloween with a market scavenger hunt that will feature prizes from Liddabit Sweets, La Newyorkina, and Animal Welfare; jack-o'-lantern making with Jimmy's No. 43; and apple bobbing with Basis. Also, Kelly Geary of Sweet Deliverance will be on hand to conduct a jam-making workshop, which isn't really Halloween-related but still sounds pretty cool.
