Surprisingly, You Can't Make Jamie Oliver's 30-Minute Meals in 30 Minutes

Not so fast.
Rachael Ray's numerous detractors are fond of pointing out that you can't actually make many of her 30-Minute Meals in 30 minutes. Britain is also a country that likes to take its food celebrities to task, and the folks at the Guardian are doing their part by giving the time-tested treatment to Jamie Oliver, who has his own version of the half-hour gimmick with Jamie's 30-Minute Meals.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, none of Oliver's recipes take 30 minutes to prepare. The one that comes closest involves 10 minutes of prep, 30 minutes of actual cooking, and 45 minutes of cleanup; is rated a 6/5 for stress; and earns the observation that "it's a shame that nobody seems to have bothered to work out what a completely awful experience it's going to be trying to recreate the recipes from this show at home." Which pretty much explains why nobody takes cooking shows seriously as anything other than a spectator sport, regardless of which side of the Atlantic they air on.
