McNally Abandons Village Paper Space Following NIMBY Opposition
Well, so much for that. Less than a month after he first appeared before Community Board 2 to make his case for installing a Pulino's Café in the burned-out Village Paper space, Keith McNally has abandoned his plans. 
No Pulino's, no Balthazar, no nothing.
Yesterday, Eater noticed that McNally had withdrawn his application from the CB2 agenda, following vociferous NIMBY opposition at the board's meeting earlier this month. And though the neighbors had told McNally they'd be more open to a "quieter" restaurant, McNally has confirmed to Eater that he has officially given up the space.
So what will the neighbors welcome instead? Another restaurant? A Duane Reade? A Subway? A sewage treatment facility? It remains to be seen, but in the meantime, the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and West 10th Street isn't exactly suffering a dearth of restaurants: there are 13 within a one-block radius.
