Beginning November 13, you'll be a bit closer to being able to replicate the flavors of Purple Yam in your own home: That's when owners Amy Besa and Romy Dorotan will kick off a series of cooking classes dedicated to traditional Filipino foods. The November 13 class will focus on holiday treats like bibingka (rice cake), Christmas ham, and ensaimada (Filipino brioche); a second class on December 3 will focus on kimchi and Korean pancakes. To get a better idea of what the experience entails, check out the Purple Yam blog, which has an account of an August class focusing on sinigang and adobo (soups and stews).
