Gourd-lovers and cider fanatics would do well to make their way to the Hester Street Fair this Sunday, when its organizers will collaborate with the Greenmarket to put on the Lower East Side Harvest Festival. Hallmarks of bucolic country life will be imported to the intersection of Essex and Hester Streets for the event (which takes place from noon to 4 p.m.): There will be bales of hay, fresh-pressed apple cider, a "guess the weight" pumpkin contest, and produce, as well as an audience-judged neighborhood bake-off. Just like in the country, but with handball courts and Chinatown bus exhaust.
