Nate Appleman Has Left Pulino's, Will Be Replaced by Morandi's Tony Liu

Adieu, Appleman.

After untold months of buzz to rival that of a thousand cicadas, it's over: Nate Appleman has left Pulino's. Eater reported that the split between the chef and Keith McNally was "mutual," and that he's already been replaced by Tony Liu, a chef at Morandi.

Appleman's tenure at Pulino's was certainly one of the most feverishly scrutinized in recent history, thanks to both his reputation as one of San Francisco's most feted young chefs and the hype inherent to any McNally project. His stint at Pulino's was a lively one, thanks in part to a bizarro arrest and a schoolyard-worthy spat between his employer and Adam Platt following the latter's negative review of Pulino's in New York magazine.

We have no idea where Appleman will go next, but we will miss seeing him jogging around the East Village.
